ANGEL HEART エンジェル ハート

Although many would be tempted to say that Angel Heart is the sequel of the famous City Hunter by Tsukasa Hôjô, the mangaka has made it clear that it is in a parallel universe as City Hunter and should not be taken as the sequel. It started in 2001 and is currently published in the Weekly Bunch magazine. Although the same characters are used (Ryo Saeba, Kaori Makimura, Saeko Nogami, ...), it is supposed to happen in an alternate universe where the story of CH has changed.

Angel Heart is the story of Shan In, aka Glass Heart, a highly skilled assassin from a private army owned by one of the most powerful triad organization in Taiwan. As skillful as she was, she's just a young girl, and deep down inside her heart she hates killing. After one of her last mission, in which she killed the father of a young girl, she had had enough and decided to end it all by committing suicide. Her organization tried to save her by giving her a heart transplant. Given the circumstances, the organization had no choice but to illegally obtained the heart. The heart belonged to Kaori Makimura, who died in a car accident. After the sugery, GH remained in a coma for a year before waking up to find the man haunting her dreams, Ryo Saeba. Literally following her new heart, she went to Japan to try to find Ryo Saeba, in which she succeeded. After a series of incidents, Shan In was adopted by Ryo Saeba, a former mercenary himself, and trying to start a brand new life, trying to live as normal as any former asssasin can expect to have.
